TOKYO Smart Culture Project

This project digitizes, records, and preserves cultural resources such as the collections of metropolitan cultural institutions and their exhibitions, performances, and other activities, and provides various forms of viewing experiences. Tokyo Museum Collection (ToMuCo) is a database that allows users to search across materials and artworks held by six metropolitan museums (Tokyo Metropolitan Edo-Tokyo Museum, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo Metropolitan Garden Museum, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art, Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum). You can also view virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) contents using 3DCG of the collection.

"Hyper Edohaku" is a series of smartphone applications that was launched in 2022 as a fun way to learn about the museum's collections and the history of Edo-Tokyo when the Edo-Tokyo Museum of Tokyo was closed for large-scale renovation work. So far, “Edo Ryogoku Edition, ”“ Meiji Ginza Edition, ” “Nihonbashi Soshoki: Edo no Moneya Edition, ” and“ Taisho Roman: Asakusa Edition ” have been distributed, and in each of them you can explore 100 items and learn about the life, culture, and history of Edo and Tokyo.
