The Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture plays a role in the cultural administration of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and works to further promote art and culture in Tokyo and to pass on the history and culture of Edo-Tokyo by promoting art and culture and improving its infrastructure.
Specifically, through projects run by Arts Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum Tokyo Metropolitan Edo-Tokyo Museum Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum, Tokyo Photographic Art Museum Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, Tokyo Tokyo Shibuya Koen-dori Gallery Tokyo Arts and Space Tokyo, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Arts Tokyo Arts and Space Hongo, Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Space Residency, Shibuya Koen-dori Gallery, Tokyo Bunka Arts Council Tokyo (CCBT), we preserve and utilize artworks and materials, provide opportunities to view art, promote music and performing arts, develop human resources and spread education, and establish and disseminate the infrastructure for arts and culture.
Based on the measures taken by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to realize a city that thrives on arts and culture, the Foundation aims to evolve arts and culture into the infrastructure of life for each and every citizen of Tokyo. In cooperation with Tokyo residents, artists, cultural figures, and companies, we will work to ensure that many people can use our services and facilities.
