Ahead of the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture is working together with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to hold the “Tokyo Tokyo FESTIVAL”, a range of exciting cultural programs.

    Public Call for Project Proposals for Tokyo Tokyo FESTIVAL “DANCE TRUCK TOKYO”

    From September 2019

    • Using the bed of a truck as a movable stage, this event delivers unique, site-specific performances to Tokyo’s streets, station plazas and marketplaces. With a focus on “mobility”, it will travel around 15 locations throughout Tokyo in 2019 and 2020.

    Shimada Tadashi: Wild Moments The World of Beautiful Birds

    • Tadashi Shimada is an internationally active nature photographer, known especially for his pictures of wild birds like the kingfisher. Along with a retrospective of Shimada’s 40-year career, this event will feature photographs of animals that dwell in the tropical rainforests of New Guinea. His shots of rare birds of paradise are not to be missed. There will also be many fun events including a talk with the artist.

    “Born Creative” Festival 2019

    • The Born Creative Festival is a fun, one-day event where artists from around the world, working in a range of genres, go in search of a “new sound”. From Norwegian improvisational musicians to a new piece by world-class Japanese musician, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Yoshihide Otomo, as well as Electric Toys Orchestra’s room, the event offers new sounds from around the globe.
