Traditional Culture and Performing Arts Short-term Experience Program for Foreign Visitors

 

Authentic firsthand experiences of traditional Japanese culture and performing arts are offered. Programs, such as Engei Japanese traditional entertainment, traditional Japanese dance and Shamisen of Nagauta music are conducted by professionals. English interpretation is also provided for all programs.

Engei Workshop (Japanese traditional entertainment)

  • Dates: Every Saturday from Apr 4, 2020 through Mar 27, 2021 (except Dec 26, 2020, Jan 2, 2021)
    Venue: Tokyo Metropolitan Edo-Tokyo Museum
    Admission: Free (Admission fee for Permanent Exhibition is charged.)

Japanese Dance Workshop

  • Dates: Every Sunday from Apr 12, 2020 through Mar 28, 2021 (There are some exceptions) / Every Tuesday and Thursday from Jul 28 through Sep 3
    Venue: Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center 6F
    Admission: Free

Nagauta Shamisen Workshop

  • Dates: The 4th Sunday of each month from May through Oct
    Venue: Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center 6F
    Admission: Free

Rakugo (Japanese traditional comic storytelling) Workshop

  • Dates: Every Friday from Jul 31 through Sep 4
    Venue: Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center 6F
    Admission: Free

Shishimai (Lion Dance), Kyokugei (Traditional Japanese acrobatics)

  • Dates: May 16 (Sat), 17 (Sun)
